Steven Knight has developed the upcoming period drama series Great Expectations adapted from the famous novel of the same name by British novelist Charles Dickens.
There have been many adaptations of ‘Great Expectations’ before, including both films and television series. This new TV adaptation is directed by Steven Knight and follows the coming-of-age story of orphan Pip and his journey through life’s various customs as fate and the plot lead him through life’s ups and downs.
Along the way meeting expectations, he meets people such as the kind-hearted brother-in-law Joe, the beautiful Estella, the mysterious Miss Havisham, the villainous Magwitch, and more.
When is Great Expectations releasing?
Knight previously adapted and developed another Dickensian novel ‘A Christmas Carol’ in 2019. In May 2020 it was announced that a collaboration between the BBC and FX would be developing another TV series adapted from Dickens’ novel.
Cast members were announced in February of 2022. Filming began in March of that year. The series is set to premiere on FX on Hulu on March 26, 2023.
